In 1972 a loop was being constructed at Eardington as the debate
over the future of Bridgnorth grew more heated, culminating in a
strike of the volunteers in 1973. A ground frame to give access
to the permanent way siding that remained was commissioned in 1976
and is unlocked by the Highley-Bridgnorth token. The first train
called at Eardington Halt on 7 March 1981 but the halt was
subsequently closed.
