Services between Kidderminster Junction and Foley Park had been withdrawn
by B.R. and Kidderminster Yard closed on 16 May 1983. A new station was
built on the site of the old yard and a ground frame to control the
connections to platform 1 (locked by the staff) was provided.
Construction of a signalbox commenced, incorporating the frame from
Acton Yard and the first signals were erected in 1986. The up distant
was repositioned in 1987 and the box was commissioned on 21 November 1987
including all connections as far as the gantry. Acceptance lever working
was brought into use on this date as was the first motor operated point
on the SVR. Work on signalling for the new platform 2 started in 1990
and was commissioned by Christmas 1990.
