The box diagram has been reproduced by kind permission of the Signalling Record Society, showing the situation just after the new frame had been installed in 1961. There were further changes over the years, including an additional track circuit on the Up Relief to indicate when a train had drawn up to the Starting signal but by 1984 the car park had started to encroach on the sidings. By 1987 it was possible for passenger trains to reverse in the Up Main but the Up Relief had taken over the track of the Down Relief to approach the box and had been truncated as a siding beyond the box. The layout as at 1984 and 1987 is also shown on the box diagram and the position in 1987 is shown on the locking chart and on the associated dog chart.
